Here’s the cold, hard truth: There’s a 50% chance your next SAP hire will be a mis-hire in the next 12-18 months.

..and if they last, odds are they will be an average performer at best.

This is what keeps companies from achieving the holy grail of business outcomes: VISION.

This is what keeps teams drowned in a sea of mediocrity and derails once-promising leadership careers.

This is what keeps CEO’s up at night.

…and this should shake you to your core.

According to a study by LeadershipIQ, 46% of all hires will fail within 18 months, while only 19% of those hires would be considered a success in that same time period.

This 3-year study was compiled studying 5,247 hiring managers from 312 organizations, collectively hiring over 20,000 employees. This isn’t some inconsequential study. This is the real deal…

But let’s look beyond just these numbers. Don’t forget that gray area…the 35% that were neither considered mis-hires, NOR were considered successes.

Think back to your own hiring record. How many employees have you brought on board that, if you could do it all over again, would think twice about hiring?

My guess is about a third.

The numbers don’t lie…

In my 15 years headhunting in the SAP space, I’ve seen it time and time again. The recruitment and hiring of talent is treated as an afterthought, and it’s ruining careers.

I see the resumes. I get the emails. LinkedIn messages, and the calls; all from SAP leaders who were on a fast-track, only to stumble just when they were hitting their stride.

I get it. Hiring the right way is hard. But underperforming teams are a scourge on the industry, and it’s time to take hiring more seriously.
